European Association for Local Democracy
ALDA is a non-profit association founded by initiative of the Congress of the Council of Europe in 1999. AADL is a membership-based organisation gathering more than 300 members (mostly LAs and CSOs) based in 45 countries in EU and its neighbourhood.
ALDA's mission is to promote local democracy, active citizenship, good governance and cooperation between local authorities and civil society, namely in the EU and its neighbourhood East and South.
ALDA is a member, observer, or partner of the following organizations: Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Civil Society Forum of Eastern Partnership, Committee of the Regions, CONCORD, CIVICUS, Energy Cities, EMI, Anna Lindh Foundation, Conference of INGOs, MITOST, Central and Eastern European Citizens Network, SDG Watch Europe etc.
